Become A Volunteer Advocate
What Does a Volunteer Advocate Do?
CASA volunteer advocates are ordinary people just like you. They come from all walks of life, just like the children in foster care they help.
A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer gathers information from everyone involved in a child’s daily life, including the child’s family, foster parents, teachers, lawyers, social workers, and other relevant individuals.
Then, they report to a judge to advocate for the child’s best interests.
CASA volunteer advocates work to reunite the child with their family of origin when it is safe. If reunification is not possible, advocates may recommend placing the child with extended family or family friends. When these option are unavailable, foster care is recommended.
